Have you ever been in the situation where tenants are looking to rent a house with a no pet policy, or you have a buyer looking to purchase a condo in an association with a no pet policy, or maybe you had a short-term tenant bring their animal on vacation where no pets are allowed? meowsers!?!? If you haven’t chances are you will!
Take this course and learn how to handle situations like this or similar, appropriately, and keep yourself out of the "dog house."
Objectives - After taking this class, students will be able to:
Identify what classifies a service dog under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Explain when Emotional Support Animals are and are not protected by various laws.
Understand how Officer K-9s are classified and how to treat them in a rental situation.
Understand the requirements for training a service dog.
Identify the questions allowed to ask someone who has a service dog to verify the allowance of the dog.
Understand when a service dog may be excluded from the ADA.
Explain how service dogs are classified under the Fair Housing Act.
Explain how an Emotional Support Animal would be allowed under the Fair Housing Act.
Know the questions allowed to be asked under the Fair Housing Act and Section 504.
Understand what the Florida Statutes say regarding service animals.
INSTRUCTOR: Tiea Vincent (AHWD, C2EX, CRS, GKC, GRI, MPM, MRP, RMP)
While not a Florida native, Tiea Vincent has lived here for nearly 2 decades, and now calls Jacksonville home for her and her family .
She got her start in property management as a leasing agent and assistant manager in multifamily communities in 2003. Early in her career, she moved often to follow her military husband and has been in property management and licensed in three states . She will be celebrating 20 years in real estate next year. She is currently a member of the National Association of Property Managers, Northeast Florida Association of Realtors, the Florida Association of Realtors, the Multiple Listing Service, RRC, and WCR.
Tiea has been married to the military since 2003. She has knowledge of and experience with all the aches and pains that come with relocation. This experience helps her ease the transition for her clients, both owners moving away and new tenants moving in.
As the Broker-Owner of NXT Level Real Estate, she holds a resume that is second to none in her field including but not limited to:
